Life in Black and White

2007 – 3rd, 2008 – 2nd, 2009 - ??

Every Australian Rules football league needs a team wearing Black and White and the Putney Magpies are that team in London. Over the last couple of years, the Putney Magpies have been quietly developing into one of the top teams in the London league, culminating in our first Premiership Grand Final appearance in 2008.

The Putney Magpies culture is built around enjoying your time as part of the club, on and off the field. We are a laid back club consisting of Aussie guys who still want to have a kick of the footy with mates while exploring Europe and a mix of other nationalities, predominately English, who want to see what this sport is all about.

Our strength in built on our developing list of EU players with 8 of them representing Great Britain at the 2008 International Rules World Cup. We have a mix of backgrounds for these EU players including Football (soccer), Rugby Union and Gaelic Football.

In summary, if you want a bogan with a mullet yelling at you either at training or during a game then I am sorry don't come to Putney because we don't have that type of culture. Fortunately, the Putney Magpies are a little more laid back and well suited to Aussie Rules in London. So if you are an Aussie, British, European, an eskimo or from any other place not mentioned, we will make you feel welcome and guarantee you will have a blast.

Training is held every Tues and Thurs night in South Park, Parsons Green from 6:30pm - click here for a map to the park.
